Every inhabitant of Lombok has a scooter. What could be more fun to also explore the island by scooter? We drove to the south from Senggigi with our scooter. Only the scooter trip itself was already a great experience. Along the way you are only on the road with locals. Most of them love to see two tourists on a scooter. Honking and laughing, they tear past you. In contrast to most locals, we were very slow. Perhaps this was also a reason for the smiling faces.

OUR ROUTE

For the scooter tour, the south towards Kuta beach was planned. We had to travel about 60 kilometers to the south. Along the way we passed the busy capital of Lombok Mataram. While driving you can enjoy the daily life. On the road it seemed like a lot of chaos. Everything and everyone drove past each other. There didn’t seem to be traffic rules and you still had to drive on the left. This took some getting used to but when you adjust quickly you will experience a great trip!

THE SASAK

The first stop is at a Sasak village. The Sasak are the original inhabitants of Lombok. The traditional village of Sade was on our route. Here we were welcomed by a local who gave us a tour. We took a look at the daily life of the Sasak. Nice to see this along the way ..

KUTA BEACH

After our visit to the Sasak village we continued our route in a southerly direction to admire Kuta Beach. In about 2.5 hours from Senggigi we reached Kuta Beach. One of the most beautiful beaches on Lombok is the Tanjung Aan. A blue sea, white sand and a mountainous environment make this beach perfect. Upon arrival we saw the turquoise blue sea from a distance. If you are in the area then this is an absolute must. On the beach you can enjoy the delicious food from one of the many Warungs.
The entrance for the beaches in and around Kuta is IDR 10,000 (€ 0.63).

SELONG BELANAK

After chilling on Kuta Beach for a few hours, we picked up the scooters again and continued our way to Selong Belanak. A beautiful route of 5 minutes with many turns, slopes and descents. Once we arrived at Selong Belanak we were able to rest for a while from the rather intense scooter tour. Enjoying the beautiful view of the beach.

Selong Belanak is a calm and relaxed beach. The waves are perfect for novice surfers. There are more locals than tourists on Selong Belanak. In the area there are not yet many accommodations to be found, but in a few years time this may change. Enjoy this nice and quiet part of Lombok now!

With all the beautiful impressions of the day in mind, we returned to our hostel in Senggigi before it’s getting dark. In the meantime, of course, refuel. At Lombok you don’t have to wait until you pass to a gas station. This is amazing!
