Google your Bali, you will get dozens of routes from it. We also red all those tips, grabbed the Lonely Planet and created a route for 21 days including the flights. Depending on your flight schedule, you’ll have 19 full days in Indonesia. This itinerary is relaxed and you’ll see a lot! We have planned several nights at the various destinations, so you can take your time to enjoy the most beautiful beaches, the impressive temples, the green rice fields and much more. Use the day program below as a guideline for your trip!
Day 1 Flight from Amsterdam to Denpasar
Flight from Amsterdam to Denpasar. The choice of your airline determines the flight duration and your flight schedule. With Singapore Airlines you’ll have a transfer at Singapore, with Garuda at Jakarta, with Emirates at Dubai and with Cathay Pacific you’ll have a transfer at Hong Kong. KLM is the fastest from Amsterdam and only makes a short fuel stop at Singapore. We chose Cathay Pacific, as they had favorable rates. The service was great!
Day 2 Arrival Bali – Seminyak 2 nights
Arrival Denpasar. Your fantastic journey can begin! Grab a taxi and start your journey in Seminyak. Within 20 minutes you will be at the reception of your hotel / hostel and you will receive a welcome drink from the hospitable locals. Even if you are so tired, do not fall down on the bed! Once you have unpacked your suitcase, put on that nicest dress and head to the beach. A cold Bintang is waiting for you with a delicious satay. The colored beachclubs invite you to chill for a few hours and enjoy your first Balinese hours. The live music will keep you awake until you really can’t. You have already eaten delicious!
Day 3 Seminyak
Today you will recover from the long flight. Walk from Seminyak along the beach to Kuta and find a nice spot at one of the beach clubs or take your bath towel and fall asleep. Once you wake up, walk on to Legian and Tuban again. Here you can find a restaurant for lunch. There is a lot on the menu. Now you have seen the other places. Now that you’ve eaten it’s time for a nap on the beach again. When you wake up again, the sun sets slowly. Enjoy! As soon as the sun is down, head back to the hotel to freshen up and get ready for dinner. On the beach of Seminyak are many nice beach clubs where you can have a drink / dinner. On the other hand are countless restaurants / warungs. Again no shortage of choice!
Day 4 Seminyak
Today we will discover the center of Seminyak. Lovely to just walk through those shops.
Day 5 Seminyak-Ubud-Monkey Forest
We are completely in the Balinese flow and we are charged again. Let’s go to Ubud! Our taxi driver takes us 30km further to Ubud. This costs around 150,000 IDR (9.50 EU). You should be able to make it in an hour, but for the center of Ubud we have been locked up for quite a long time. Unfortunately this is not the Ubud we had in mind. Half an hour later we arrive at the guesthouse. We can walk to this guesthouse from the main street of Ubud. Still it is quiet at the guesthouse which is very nice. We will stay here for 4 nights. Host Yannick welcomes you and explains everything. Unpacked your suitcase? Check. Let’s go to the Monkey Forest which is a fifteen minute walk from the center.
Day 6 Ubud – Campuhan Ridge Walk – Ubud Market – bike tour to Tegalallang Rice Terrace
Let’s start with the Campuhan Ridge Walk. This track is also within walking distance of the center of Ubud. It is advisable to start this hikeearly in the morning, as it is still quiet and the sun shines nicely over the path and grass.
Once you’ve done the track you walk across the market and score a nice rattan bag or sarong. Of course, a fresh coconut cannot miss! It is early so we have the whole day. We take the bike, turn on google maps and go to the Tegallalang rice fields by bike. From Ubud this is about 11 kilometers. Google Maps shows the route without errors. Along the way the locals will look at you, because you are the only tourist on a bike, but how nice is that! Leave Tegalalang on time, so you don’t have to cycle back in the dark.
Day 7 Ubud Jatiluwih + NungNung + Pura Ulun Danu Bratan + Pura Taman Ayun
Today we have a tour that we’ve put together with the owner of the guesthouse. We’ve made a list of the temples, rice fields and waterfalls that we wanted to see. He gave us some better suggestions. We made this day tour. We left early in the morning and returned in the evening around 6 p.m. The NungNung waterfall is an absolute must do and really less crowded.
Day 8 Ubud – Mount Batur Sunrise Tracking
The alarm clock goes early in the morning, because at 02:00 you will be picked up to climb Mount Batur! The intention is that you are at the top with sunrise to enjoy the beautiful view. In Ubud there are many resorts in the middle of the beautiful nature. Here you become completely zen. We have chosen Maya Ubud to recover from the busy days. The swimming pools are surrounded by nature, you can find peace and quiet and our Deluxe pool villa overlooks the rice fields. There are beauty treatments, massages and yoga sessions. The room service is your best friend today.

On Kuta Beach we chilled for a while and eat an ice cream. On the way back we’ve visited the beautiful beach of Selong Belanak. Wonderfully quiet and beautiful! We will return at the end of the afternoon and prepare for dinner.
Day 12 Senggigi – Tiu Kelep Waterfall
Today we are in the car for a long time, but it’s all for a good cause. We are going to visit a very nice waterfall, the Tiu Kelep. This waterfall is hidden in the jungle so you first have to hike a bit. Along the way you will see another beautiful waterfall, the Sendang Gile. Once you have arrived at the Tiu Kelep you can’t believe your eyes. The huge waterfall consists of all small waterfalls. A visit to this waterfall cannot be missed.
Day 13 Senggigi – Gili Trawangan
From the port of Senggigi we take the fast boat to Gili Trawangan. We will stay here for 5 nights to relax and feel the Island vibe. After all, it’s vacation! We stay at the Oceano Jambuluwuk Resort. Here we have a great house by the pool. The beach is a few steps away.
Day 14 Gili Trawangan – Snorkeling

This day we are going to relax for a day on the beautiful beach of Gili Trawangan. Close your eyes and relax.
Day 16 Gili Trawangan – bike tour
Motorized transport is not allowed on the Gili Islands. This is why you can rent so many bicycles. You can rent a bike anywhere on the island. This way you can cycle around the island. In about 1.5 hours you can see the whole island. We take a little longer, since we want to enjoy the different beaches and have lunch somewhere.
Day 17 Gili Trawangan – Gili Air
Today we are going to Gili Air for a day. Be early, because the last boat leaves at 9.30 am. For 25,000 IDR the boat takes us to the other island. We also rent a bicycle here at Gili Air. Along the way we come across many nice stalls and delicious restaurants. What a nice day! Make sure you are back at the port around 3 p.m., since you cannot reserve tickets for the return trip. This is also the last boat that goes back to Trawangan.
Day 18 Gili Trawangan – Sanur
Unfortunately, we leave the island vibes behind us and waiting for the boat with our suitcases on the beach of Gili Trawangan. We will sail back to Sanur, since we have booked our last 2 nights here. Transfer from the port to the center is also included here. On the fastboat we get a spot on the roof. We enjoy the beautiful view in the sun with a Bintang Radler in our hand. We’ll stay in Puri Santrian .
Day 19 Sanur
Today we’ll relax at the beach, at the nice quiet swimming pool and enjoy our last day in Bali. At the end of the afternoon we walk into Sanur and check out some shops.
