There is something magical about this country. It’s like a whole different world in just a few hours of flying. Nature is really beautiful, the food is cheap and delicious and you can easily move from A to B. Something for everyone here! Beach lovers, nature lovers, water sporters, golfers or are you in for a city trip? Every time we come back to Portugal it feels like coming home. We think this destination is the perfect escape for a week in spring or autumn.
FLIGHT TIME
You are at Faro airport in just 3 hours flying time. The most southern airport in the country. This is the airport of arrival for the south coast of Portugal, called the Algarve. Well-known seaside resorts here are Albufeira, Carvoeiro, Lagos, Ferragudo and Tavira. You can also choose to fly to Porto or Lisbon and then go south by rental car during a cool road trip. You can also fly to Faro and then cross the border to Spain by car. More on this later.
AMAZING BEACHES
The most beautiful beaches can be found in the Algarve. Choose to stay on the left side of the airport. Here the sea is beautifully clear and the rock formations are amazing! It’s like a piece of Australia, yet very close. There are long sandy beaches such as at Albufeira or small idyllic bays such as Lagos. If you are lucky you can spot dolphins from the beach!

THE BEST TIME TO VISIT PORTUGAL
For the ultimate experience, we recommend that you visit Portugal in spring or autumn. In these months the weather is already nice, but tourism is slowly starting up again. This allows you to enjoy the Algarve in peace and you may have a whole beach to yourself!
RENT A CAR
A rental car is definitely recommended during your visit to Portugal. With this you can visit all the beautiful beaches (especially at times when the excursions have not yet left), visit the nice villages and stop where and when you want! You can also cross the border into Spain, towards Huelva. Which is only an hour’s drive from Faro airport. Do not forget that you conclude border crossing with the rental contract!
